A Special Seasonal Mission
Posted on November 19, 2015
It may seem a little early, but in our busy nursery time just flies by so we try to always think ahead. The children in our Dragonfly Room absolutely love to be outdoors, exploring and collecting. One of the children received a special delivery earlier in the week, a letter outlining his special mission to help find and collect as many fir cones as possible. Our happy helper arrived this morning excited to show Leanne what he had found at "his Arboretum" To our surprise he had collected a bag full of fir cones; there were big, small, spiky and smooth - along with a few creepy crawlies that had hid inside! Over the coming weeks children and staff plan to use the fir cones for as many activities as possible.
It is always lovely to see and hear what the children have found when they have been out and about with their friends and families. If you are going on a walk this weekend perhaps you could see how many fir cones you can find to add to our collection. In nursery we are resisting the urge to begin Christmas too soon but to get our singing voices warmed up and get you in the spirit as you are collecting you could sing our ditty...
"Fir cones falling,
all around us,
children exploring having fun"
...although listening to today's weather forecast it may snow falling sooner than we expected.
