Bear on the Chair

Posted on July 01, 2016

The Ladybirds have been sharing their love of books with their new friend Marshall today.  Travelling to the library Marshall was safely tucked up in his spotty backpack taking in the views around Bedale Park.  Arriving in the library the children were keen to show him The Very Hungry Caterpillar and seeing the picture of their bear on the chair prompted me to want to share with you another lovely book that we recently introduced to the nursery.

There's a Bear on My Chair written by Ross Collins has fast become a favourite of the children in the Dragonfly Room, so much so that we are buying another copy for the Ladybird Book Borrowers Basket.  The book is full of rhyming language which is lovely to read out loud and the children have lots of fun listening for all the other words that rhyme with bear & chair.  It is often the cover that makes me pick up a book, there was something about these two characters that made me take a peek inside and I am very glad I did.  The pictures in here appear quite simple at first but it is worth looking a little closer as there is alot in there to talk about as the mouse gets more and more frustrated with the bear!

A quick reminder that there are Book Borrowers Baskets in each of our nursery rooms and we add to these regularly.  We hope all our children will become Book Borrowers and enjoy sharing the stories with family members at home - please remember we always love to hear which stories parents like to read at home so we can share your recommendations with others.

Happy reading - Sarah & the team
