Little Miss Chatterbox

This week we have welcomed Little Miss Chatterbox, Sandra Chappell to team Incy Wincy's. Sandra joins us in the role of Early Language Advisor to support the development of Language from the Caterpillar Room through to the children who will leave the Dragonfly Room for school. A number of children experience speech and language delay and while we are skilled in recognising the children who are at risk of delay we find that the services we refer to are often stretched themselves. All the evidence highlights the importance of early intervention in supporting children to achieve the very best outcomes. Thinking about how we could build on last years Every Child a Talker Project, and all the other work staff had done to promote children's chatter we felt that Sandra's level of expertise would help us continue to deliver Outstanding opportunities for all the children at Incy Wincy's.

Over the coming year Sandra will be supporting our staff training programme ensuring that all members of team Incy Wincy's have a thorough upto date knowledge of current thinking around speech & language development. In addition to this she will be helping us to create further Communication Friendly Spaces in our nursery playrooms and gardens. If parents have any particular concerns about their children speech and language development they may choose to speak to Sandra about the individual assessment and support programmes she can offer their children.
