Oodles of Doodles

Nurseries and schools across the country are being asked to go Doodle Crazy for this year's World Book Day tomorrow, the children at Incy Wincy's have already had fun creating Oodles of Doodles.  Yesterday our fabulous storyteller Pippa Pixley introduced us to her book characters, Scribble & Scrunch and before long we were swept away across the sea on an adventure with dragonflies, jelly fish and sharks. The children were encouraged to use their hands to represent the movement of all the places we visited and the creatures along the way.  In the Studio we provided them with the large sheets of paper and invited them to create their own stories.  

It may look like a scribble but this is so much more... we know that the large movements, awareness of space and all the wonderful language the children used will mix together to create something magical.  These are the early signs of children who will become confident readers and creative writers in school, but the best bit of it is that they were having the most fantastic fun!
