Nursery Day with a Twist
Posted on February 14, 2018
The twist was to welcome the Rt. Hon. Damian Hinds MP (Secretary of State for Education) to our beautiful nursery setting today. It was a pleasure to also open our doors to Andrea Sedgewick (Head of Early Years, NYCC), Stuart Carlton (Director of Children's Services, NYCC) and Councillor Carl Les. The visit was an opportunity to discuss some of the current issues in Early Years, specifically the funding challenges all early years providers are facing and our own approach to the development of Communication, Language and Literacy skills at Incy Wincy's.
The issue of early years funding is one we have been grappling with for the past 2 years. Bringing ourselves up to speed with guidelines and policies relating to the 30 hour extended entitlement, whilst ensuring we do not compromise the outstanding quality of care and education we provide for children in our community.
There was a short discussion on these Early Education issues followed by a tour of our Nursery play spaces & gardens; showing daily nursery life for the children. Sarah highlighted the Incy Wincy approach during the tour; showing how well our amazing staff look after the children whilst they are away from home.
Following this visit we will consider these issues and come back with some more thoughts to share very soon. To see a short video clip follow
